7 March 2025 – Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer Corporation (PhilPhos), one of Southeast Asia’s leading fertilizer manufacturers, has forged a partnership with Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) to secure reliable and competitively priced electricity. The partnership was officially sealed in a ceremonial signing event at SEDA Makati Hotel, attended by key executives from both PhilPhos and MECO.

Through this partnership, PhilPhos will benefit from lower electricity costs, helping reduce operational expenses and optimize energy consumption. This is made possible under the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program, which enables contestable customers like PhilPhos to choose cost-efficient power supply options tailored to their needs. By switching to Mabuhay Energy, PhilPhos can enjoy significant savings on electricity bills while ensuring a stable and reliable power source for its operations.

Sherwing G. Hing, Chairman of Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO), expressed his gratitude and reflection on the company’s journey leading up to this partnership with Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer Corporation (PhilPhos). Looking back, he recalled how their early connections were purely personal, never expecting that one day they would be sitting across from each other, signing a business contract.  “It’s surreal to think about how time has flown. Looking back over the past 20 years, this moment serves as a reminder of how connections evolve and opportunities unfold.” He emphasized his excitement about the road ahead, expressing his appreciation for the trust placed in MECO. “I truly hope this marks the beginning of a strong, long-term partnership.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Joselito Y. It does not feel like a transactional relationship, which means a lot to me. You treat your customers like partners, and that is something we deeply appreciate. Thank you for this moment.”

This collaboration reinforces MECO’s commitment to helping Philippine businesses reduce electricity costs, regardless of industry—whether in manufacturing, industrial operations, office buildings, or condominiums. Through the transition to a Retail Electricity Supplier (RES)  like MECO, companies like PhilPhos can lower expenses, improve operational efficiency, and benefit from more cost-effective energy solutions, contributing to the Philippines’ economic growth.
