About Customer Switching:
Contestable Customers (CC) usually switch on the 26th of the month, however customers may opt on an off-cycle switch (any day that is not the 26th).
Terms you need to know:
- CRB – Central Registration Body
An entity that manages the Business-to-Business (B2B) System, which is the central hub that ensures timely and efficient exchange of data among competitive retail market players. - RMSP – Retail Metering Services Provider
A person or entity authorized to provide metering services to CCs and registered with the CRB.
Types of Customer Switching:
Initial Switching
Customers coming from their DU, or also known as the captive market.
Regular Switching
Customers who have been served by a RES at least once or those looking to switch to another RES.
What you need to prepare:
COMPLETE documentary requirements:
- Signed attestations
- Secretary’s Certificate
- Applicable WESM requirements for CCs that intend to register in the WESM
- For Initial Switch: Metering requirements
What you need to know about CUSTOMER SWITCHING:
Most of the time, we use the Single-combined Attestation (SCA) for its convenience.
However, depending on the circumstances or if more apt for the situation, the parties may opt to use an Individual Attestation.
- It must be noted that the Attestations presented to IEMOP must be consistent. Example: You cannot submit an Individual Attestation of the DU, then submit a SCA for the Incumbent RES.
