What is RCOA?
RCOA gives RES companies the ability to lower the generation charges component of the electricity bills for their customers, which takes up over 60% of their total electricity bill, thus leading to significant cost savings!
Who are the participants of RCOA?
Contestable Customer
Electricity end-user that has a monthly peak demand of at least 500 kW (as of Phase III)
Retail Electricity Supplier
An entity authorized by the ERC to sell, broker, or market electricity to end-users in the contestable market
Local RES (LRES)
The business segment of a Distribution Utility catering to the Contestable Market only within its franchise area
Supplier of Last Resort (SOLR)
An entity that provides Last Resort Supply to contestable customers who suddenly find themselves without a RES

Your rate is calculated using Indexed Pricing for your baseload. Your rate for the consumption in excess of your baseload is calculated with Market Pricing.

NO, distribution and transmission charges are regulated rates.
IF I SWITCH FROM DU TO RES, WILL I EXPERIENCE MORE BLACKOUTS?
NO, the switched customers will be served by the same transmission and distribution company.
WILL I EXPERIENCE POWER FLUCTUATION ON THE DAY THAT I SWITCH?
NO, the supply of electricity will continue normally.
IS THERE A SWITCHING FEE?
NO, switching to a RES is free.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SWITCH?
Minimum of 1 month is all it takes to switch, for as long as all documents are completed.
