The San Roque Multi-Purpose Dam in Pangasinan was commissioned 20 years ago on Labor Day, May 1, 2003. It is the largest dam in Southeast Asia and the 16th largest dam in the whole world! It stands at a height of 200 meters above the river valley floor and is more than a kilometer long (1,130 meters)! The dam hosts many features, including hydroelectric power generation, flood control, water quality improvement, and irrigation. With a rate capacity of 435 MW, the dam has helped meet the growing energy demands of the Philippines while providing water for agriculture and mitigating the risk of flooding.
