Curious about what happened in the energy market this past week?⚡ The energy market experienced a welcome rollback in prices compared to the previous week, driven by a slight easing in grid strain and lower overall peak demand. Electricity demand peaked at 11,236 MW on Friday, while electricity prices topped out at Php 9.38 per kWh on Monday—a significant decline from the Php 15.36 per kWh peak recorded the prior week. This price relief was supported by a reduction in total derated power plant capacity down to 767.6 MW (from 833.5 MW), keeping rates relatively stable between Php 7.04 and Php 8.67 per kWh mid-week despite forced outages and plant trippings.
