The clarification aligns their tax treatment with other government-mandated power sector charges, as distribution utilities and electric cooperatives only collect and remit these amounts and do not treat them as income or gross sales. This is expected to prevent additional tax burdens on electricity charges and help protect consumers from higher power costs.
