STI College Rewrites Its Energy Future with Mabuhay Energy
STI College Sta. Rosa switches to Mabuhay Energy under RCOA, gaining customized energy supply and the savings to reinvest into academic programs.
For decades, STI College has been synonymous with forward-thinking education, preparing generations of Filipino students to be "future-ready." Today, that same philosophy is extending beyond the classroom and into the institution's operational strategy.
In a strategic move toward financial efficiency and sustainability, STI College Sta. Rosa has officially transitioned its power supply to Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO), a rapidly growing licensed Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) in the Philippines.
This milestone was executed under the government's Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program. Mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA), RCOA empowers qualified "contestable customers" (establishments that meet the energy consumption threshold set by the Energy Regulatory Commission, or ERC) to break away from traditional franchise distribution utilities and directly choose their electricity providers.
By making this switch, STI College Sta. Rosa gains customized energy solutions tailored to an educational institution's fluctuating daily and seasonal power demands. Partnering with Mabuhay Energy unlocks key operational advantages for the campus, including real-time energy management, cost optimization, and a dedicated energy partner that actively caters to the school's unique power needs and operational concerns.
The savings and efficiencies gained from this transition will directly benefit the student body. By lowering overhead utility costs, the campus can reallocate resources toward academic innovation, facility upgrades, and expanding its tech-driven programs.
As Santa Rosa City continues to boom as a premier industrial and academic hub in the CALABARZON region, STI College Sta. Rosa's shift to Mabuhay Energy serves as a model for how educational institutions can leverage national energy reforms to build smarter, more resilient, and truly future-ready campuses.
