Curious about what happened in the energy market this past week? Mabuhay Energy's Weekly Market Update has you covered! We've compiled for you the Luzon and Visayas average electricity prices and demand per day, along with the power plant activities that occurred within each day. We also include environmental factors that may affect our electricity prices and demand. Weekly Rundown: Southwest monsoon continued to bring scattered heavy rainfall to the country. Electricity demand and prices went up this past week with the average electricity demand in the Luzon-Visayas grid reaching as high as 11,674 MW and average electricity prices reaching Php 11.17 per kwH. High prices were the result of lower supply due to multiple plants on shutdown and a number of them still derated. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Oct 1: Sunday - Southwest monsoon continues to bring scattered rainfall to the country. SCPC Unit 3 tripped then later came back online. San Lorenzo Module 60 and QPPL were online. Oct 2: Monday - SBPL and Pagbilao Units 1 and 3 online Oct 3: Tuesday - Sta. Rita 10 was online. Oct 4: Wednesday - Sta. Rita Module 10 changeover from oil to gas. Oct 5: Thursday - Masinloc Unit 3 tripped. Oct 6: Friday - Southwest monsoon continues to bring scattered rainfall to Luzon. Ilijan Unit 1 & 2 tripped while Sta. Rita Module 10 was online then tripped. San Gabriel and Masinloc Unit 3 were online. Oct 7: Saturday - Southwest monsoon continues to bring scattered rainfall to Western and Southern Luzon. Ilijan Unit 1 & 2 online. Automatic Load Dropping (ALD) occurred at feeders. The load was restored to normal later that day.
