Weekly Rundown: The average electricity demand and price increased due to increased average capacity on outage in the Luzon grid, rising by around 418 MW. Additionally, Independent power producer charges rose by Php 0.1384 per kWh, driven by higher fuel costs of First Gas – Sta. Rita and San Lorenzo, resulting from using imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) during testing and commissioning of its LNG terminal. The average electricity demand in the Luzon-Visayas grid reached as high as 11,575 MW while average electricity prices went down to as low as Php 6.89 per kwH. The monsoon and shear line brought light to moderate scattered rainfall to the region throughout the week. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Jan 5: Friday - Northeast monsoon brought scattered rainfall to Northern and Central Luzon. Ilijan GT2-2 and Sta. Rita Module 10 shut down due to an unplanned outage. Jan 6: Saturday - Pagbilao Unit 3 shut down due to a planned outage and Sta. Rita Module 20 shut down due to an unplanned outage. Sual Unit 1 tripped with a 350MW load. Jan 7: Sunday - Sual Unit 1, Sta. Rita Modules 10 and 20 were online. Jan 8: Monday - Northeast monsoon brought scattered rainfall to the whole Luzon region. Anda synchronized to match the frequency, phase, and voltage of a generator or other sources to an electrical grid to transfer power. Jan 9: Tuesday - Masinloc 1 went online after its unplanned outage last December 27, 2023. Jan 10: Wednesday - Kalayaan Unit 4 was online while Sta. Rita Module 30 was shut down due to an unplanned outage. Jan 11: Thursday - Sual Unit 1 tripped with 233MW load then came back online.
