The average electricity demand in the Luzon-Visayas grid went down to as low as 8,947 MW while average electricity prices went down to as low as Php 1.76 per kwH. The northeast monsoon continued to affect the region, resulting in relatively cooler temperatures in the country. We also include environmental factors that may affect our electricity prices and demand. Weekly Rundown: The northeast monsoon and sheer line continued to bring scattered heavy rainfall affecting Luzon’s Northern and Central regions. Easterlies estimated in South Luzon brought warm and humid weather to the region. Electricity demand and prices went up this past week with the average electricity demand in the Luzon-Visayas grid reaching as high as 11,878 MW while average electricity prices went down to as low as Php 4.06 per kwH. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Nov 10: Friday - Easterlies estimated in South Luzon. Nov 11: Saturday - Northeast monsoon affected Northern Luzon. Sta. Rita shutdown. Nov 12: Sunday - Sheer line estimated in Central Luzon brought rainfall to the region while the Northeast monsoon continued to affect Northern Luzon. Nov 13: Monday - Sheer line still estimated in Central Luzon while the Northeast monsoon continued to affect Northern and Central Luzon. Nov 14: Tuesday - Northeast monsoon affected Northern and Central Luzon, bringing scattered rainfall. SLPGC Unit 1 & 2 tripped. Nov 15: Wednesday - Ilijan GT2-1 and Ilijan ST1 tripped then came online while Ilijan GT1-1 shutdown. Nov 16: Thursday - Ilijan GT2-1, Bacman Unit 1, 2, and 3 tripped while Ilijan GT1-1 was online. IN PHOTOS: Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) and Excell Energy and PowerGen Corp celebrated their First Partner’s Night event titled: Future Forward, at Ascott Bonifacio Global City Taguig last November 7, 2023. Distinguished industry partners of the energy companies attended the event along with executives and representatives of the valued customers of MECO and Excell. This First Partner’s Night allowed MECO and Excell Energy to give much-deserved recognition to the customers who have placed their trust in the companies for their retail electricity supply and solar rooftop requirements and raffle out exclusive prizes to the guests in attendance. With the title of Future Forward, this event also gave the partners and guests in attendance an opportunity to see the future plans and programs of MECO and Excell that are all aimed towards contributing to the sustainable energy goals of the Philippines. Joining Chairman, President, and CEO Sherwin G. Hing at the event were COO of MECO Jacqueline Castillo, and COO of Excell Energy and the new entity, Mabuhay Renewable Energy Corp., Gladys Policarpio. CEO Sherwin Hing delivered a riveting ceremonial toast with all the team members of MECO and Excell on stage to commemorate the success of the companies to the trust and support of all of MECO and Excell’s partners and the collective efforts and hardwork of all the members of the team.

Electricity demand and prices went up this past week with the average electricity demand in the Luzon-Visayas grid reaching as high as 11,842 MW while average electricity prices went down to as low as Php 4.64 per kwH. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Nov 3: Friday - MPGC Unit 2 and GNPD Units 1 and 2 were online while Kalayaan Unit 3 tripped. Nov 4: Saturday - A sheer line was estimated in North Luzon, where converging warm and cold wind currents triggered rainfall. Nov 5: Sunday - Sheer line was estimated in North Luzon which brought rainfall. Makban Unit 3 tripped and SCPC Unit 3 was online. Nov 6: Monday - SLPGC 1 was online while San Lorenzo Module 50 tripped. Masinloc Unit 2 was online then later tripped. Nov 7: Tuesday - Northeast monsoon affected Northern and Central Luzon which brought scattered rainfall. SLPGC Unit 1 & 2 tripped. Nov 8: Wednesday - Northeast monsoon affected Northern and Central Luzon which brought scattered rainfall. Sual Unit 2 tripped then came back online while SLPGC Units 1 & 2 came online. Nov 9: Thursday - Northeast monsoon affected Northern Luzon which brought scattered rainfall.
