We've compiled for you the Luzon average electricity prices and demand per day, along with the power plant activities that occurred within each day. We also include environmental factors that may affect our electricity prices and demand. Weekly Rundown: The tropical depression affecting the country continues to lower the electricity demand in Luzon. Average electricity price in Luzon has also lowered due to the inclement weather. To maintain the power grid, an Automatic Load Dropping (ALD) was initiated when Kalayaan Unit 4 tripped. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Jul 16: Sunday - Southwest monsoon continued to bring heavy rains to the country. Jul 17: Monday - Sta. Rita Module 10 & 20 came online. Calaca Unit 2 tripped while Ilijan Unit 1 came online. Jul 18: Tuesday - Calaca Unit 2 went online. Jul 19: Wednesday - LPA estimated East of Visayas as heavy rains are experienced in the country. Jul 20: Thursday - LPA estimated East of Visayas as heavy rains continue to affect the country. Ilijan Unit 1 & 2 tripped. Jul 21: Friday - LPA moves north and estimated East of South Luzon. Ilijan Unit 1 & 2 went online, along with Sual Unit 1. ALD occurred due to the trip of Kalayaan Unit 4. Jul 22: Saturday - Tropical Depression "Egay" is estimated East of South Luzon and continues to bring heavy rains throughout the country. We also include environmental factors that may affect our electricity prices and demand. Weekly Rundown: The decrease in Luzon electricity demand and prices was due to the tropical depression affecting the country. The rains brought by the tropical depression resulted in lower daily temperatures which led to less strain and usage of cooling appliances such as air-conditioning. More people would've also opted to stay at home rather than go out due to the heavy rain. Here's the day-to-day breakdown: Jul 9: Sunday - Balingueo-Payocpoc 230 kV line was tripped. Jul 10: Monday - Malaya Unit 2 and Sta. Rita Module 30 and 40 went online. Jul 11: Tuesday - Ilijan Unit 2 went online and then shutdown while San Lorenzo Module 50 and 60 tripped. Jul 12: Wednesday - Ilijan Unit 2 and San Lorenzo Module 50 and 60 came back online. Jul 13: Thursday - Drop in Luzon price as LPA was estimated east of Quezon province; Southwest monsoon brought heavy rain to the country. Jul 14: Friday - LPA developed into Tropical Depression "Dodong" and Luzon Grid placed under Blue Alert; Ilijan Unit 2 tripped then came back online. Jul 15: Saturday - "Dodong" continues to affect Luzon region; Sta. Rita Module 10 and 20 shutdown. Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) marked a milestone when it was formally inducted as a member of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) during their 2nd General Membership Meeting for 2023 last June 21. MECO has been an active participant in the Energy and Power Committee of the PCCI since early this year, enthusiastically showing its support for the committee's advocacy. The company joined the PCCI and the Energy and Power Committee with the intent of supporting the organization in addressing power issues that affect business and economic competitiveness in the Philippines. With its expertise in electricity trading and ties in renewable energy through its subsidiary Excell Energy, MECO hopes to further the economic growth of the country through its fervent participation in the organization's initiatives and activities in line with the nation's ongoing transition to renewable and sustainable energy. Also at the meeting, Sec. Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr. from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Director-General Ernesto V. Perez from the Anti Red Tape Authority (ARTA), and Sec. Teodoro J. Herbosa from the Department of Health (DOH), discussed proactive and collaborative measures among national and local governments, the business sector, and other development stakeholders. Their focus was on streamlining the regulatory environment and fostering improvements in the ease of doing business across the country. Mabuhay Energy and the other members of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Energy and Power Committee met with Department of Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla to discuss the status of the Philippine Energy Sector. During the meeting, Mabuhay Energy enthusiastically endorsed the Philippine National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). The NREP sets a target of 35% renewable energy share in the Philippine power generation mix by 2030, with an aspiration to increase this figure to 50% by 2040. The San Roque Multi-Purpose Dam in Pangasinan was commissioned 20 years ago on Labor Day, May 1, 2003. It is the largest dam in Southeast Asia and the 16th largest dam in the whole world! It stands with a height of 200 meters above the river valley floor and is more than a kilometer long (1,130 meters)! The dam hosts plenty of features including hydroelectric power generation, flood control, water quality improvement, and irrigation. With a rate capacity of 435 MW, the dam has helped meet the growing energy demands of the Philippines while providing water for agriculture and mitigating the risk of flooding.
