Adventist Medical Center (AMC) achieved a significant milestone in cost efficiency by securing substantial electricity cost-savings through a strategic partnership with Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO). The collaboration was formalized during a ceremonial signing on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
As one of the Philippines’ leading private, non-profit tertiary hospitals, AMC’s transition to retail electricity supply highlights its commitment to operational efficiency and financial sustainability. By partnering with MECO, AMC gains access to a customized electricity pricing scheme designed specifically to align with its energy consumption needs, ensuring both cost savings and a reliable power supply.
The initiative also involved AECO Energy as AMC’s energy consultant, providing expert guidance throughout the transition to Retail Electricity Supply. MECO’s innovative energy solutions empower businesses like AMC to optimize their energy costs while maintaining a dependable electricity source.
Joining the signing ceremony (from left to right): Daniell Mark Mangosing, Chief Strategy Officer of Mabuhay Energy Corporation, Jacqueline Castillo, President & CEO of Mabuhay Energy Corporation, Elias Apacible Jr., President of Adventist Medical Center – Manila, Alan Jones, President & CEO of AECO Energy, and Debbie Alfonso, General Manager of AECO Energy.
During the event, Mr. Elias Apacible Jr., President of Adventist Medical Center, emphasized the importance of cost efficiency in hospital operations. “We don’t know that we can still save from the electricity because we thought that electricity is already our fixed expense, but we would like to thank Mabuhay Energy and AECO—you opened our mind that we still have a chance to lessen the expenses of our electricity,” he said.
Ms. Jacqueline Castillo, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MECO, also reflected on the company’s journey, recalling the challenges it faced when it first entered the market five years ago. She emphasized the difficulty of securing their first customer but noted that trust and strong partnerships paved the way for the company’s steady growth. “We don’t just offer energy—we offer a genuine partnership. Your growth and success are a true testament to what we do,” Ms. Castillo stated.
She further underscored MECO’s commitment to businesses of all sizes, saying, “Regardless of the size, we don’t even look at you as just a 10-megawatt or a 50-megawatt customer. Even if you’re 0.5 megawatt—we don’t care. What we care about is how we can help the economy, how we can help the Philippines. Every peso saved translates to growth in the industry and the economy as a whole. That’s why we’re here. I hope that with this partnership, you see the true value of Mabuhay Energy Corporation.”
With this collaboration, AMC strengthens its pursuit of energy efficiency, while MECO continues to expand its impact in providing cost-effective energy solutions. As more businesses embrace strategic energy partnerships, MECO remains committed to its vision of empowering industries and driving economic growth through innovative energy solutions.
