Mabuhay Energy clinches two coveted titles at Asian Power Awards 2024 with innovative web application

The retail electricity supplier was honoured for its innovative web application named the Partner Portal, which provides customers with transparent access to their energy consumption data, analytics, and electricity billing information.

Mabuhay Energy Corporation emerged triumphant at the Asian Power Awards 2024, securing wins in the two categories of the Asian Oil & Gas Awards — Data Initiative of the Year - Philippines and Innovative Technology Initiative of the Year - Philippines— with its web-based platform that empowers its customers (who they refer to as “partners”) in their energy management journey.

Boosting customer experience

Mabuhay Energy's Partner Portal is a secure, web-based platform that helps customers manage their energy usage more effectively. This has significantly enhanced the efficiency of delivering energy consumption data to customers, enabling them to actively engage in energy management. It also reduces administrative workload for both Mabuhay Energy and its partners by streamlining billing inquiries and energy data access through digital solutions such as MS PowerApps Automation and cloud software like Google Cloud.

The portal features secure and encrypted Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that allow partners to access their accounts safely from any network. Each partner is assigned a unique short name by the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines Inc. (IEMOP) which serves as their username. With this, it ensures that there are no duplicate usernames even across multiple facilities under one company.

Energy consumption data is displayed in five-minute increments, providing a comprehensive level of detail. Moreover, the portal has interactive dashboards that offer a user-friendly interface for customers to analyse their energy usage, identify savings opportunities, and track progress toward their energy goals.

Partners can also view their complete billing history with Mabuhay Energy in one secure, organised location. This includes a historical chart summarising generation charges. Bills are also encrypted with a password that only the customer knows.

Aside from these, Mabuhay Energy's Partner Portal features an in-app notification button that provides timely updates on billing statement posting and payment status. It alerts partners when their current month's bill is posted, reminds them of outstanding payments, and confirms when payments are received and processed. The notifications page also includes filtering options to help partners find specific information easily.

Continuous improvement

The Partner Portal, built using advanced JavaScript and Python tech stacks, is scalable to meet future growth in customer base and data needs. As Mabuhay Energy moves forward, the retail electricity supplier is committed to rolling out regular enhancements and updates to the online portal.

Amongst the goals set for the next two years are the addition of a dynamic market price display, which will allow Mabuhay Energy’s partners to access real-time prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market of the Philippines (WESM) directly within the portal; a predictive billing feature in which the updated energy dashboard will provide estimated future bills by analysing historical consumption data and leveraging the trading team's expertise; and accessibility through the introduction of a mobile app that is available on both iOS and Android platforms, with functionalities that mirror those of the Partner Portal for convenient on-the-go energy management.

These achievements as well as plans of action earned recognition for Mabuhay Energy, proving itself a key player in the industry.
