Franchisees Make Smart Energy Choices to Cut Cost through RCOA
Businesses that have made the switch to a RES are already seeing significant reductions in their power bills, with savings reaching up to 30%. For franchise owners, these freed-up funds provide valuable capital that can be reinvested directly into store expansion and facility upgrades.
Franchise owners within the Jollibee Foods Corporation network are seizing opportunities under Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) to secure significant savings on their electricity expenses.
At the recent Mooncake Festival gathering, the Jollibee Franchises Association (JFA) invited Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES) to share cost-saving strategies. Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) presented the benefits of RCOA, a framework that empowers qualified businesses to choose their power supplier and reduce overhead costs.
MECO Sales Supervisor Bhelle Sobremisana highlighted the supplier's strong track record in transitioning both large- and small-scale business accounts, including various Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Mang Inasal, and Red Ribbon franchisees.
"We have partnered with multiple Jollibee stores," Sobremisana noted during her address. "Our goal is to give franchise owners the confidence and clarity they need to take full control of their energy contracts, protect their bottom line, and unlock meaningful operational savings."
She further explained how fast-food restaurants, whose power consumption makes up a substantial portion of operating costs, can leverage RCOA to secure competitive rates and ensure long-term financial stability.

Sobremisana also walked attendees through the practical business advantages that make switching to MECO effective, emphasizing tailored contract structures designed specifically for the high, continuous energy demands of operations. She explained how transparent rate agreements provide cost efficiency and predictability to shield store budgets from market volatility, while highlighting MECO’s fully coordinated, hassle-free transition process that ensures zero disruption to daily store activities, equipment, or service performance.
For MECO, partnering with members of JFA and small to medium enterprises goes beyond offering competitive pricing; it reflects a commitment to empowering Filipino businesses and consumers with optimal energy management.
