The Philippines' first and only pumped hydro storage facility, The Kalayaan Pumped Storage Power Plant (KPSPP), is a groundbreaking solution to the power needs of the Luzon Grid. The KPSPP was built in 1982 and is brilliantly designed to pump water from its lower reservoir (Laguna Lake) to its upper reservoir (Caliraya Lake) during the off-peak hours of the night and release it to generate electricity during the peak hours of the day. This innovative hydropower plant ensures a sustainable and reliable power supply for the region. Follow us on social media and learn more about the rich history of our power industry!
